All Nebraska hospitals are encouraged to abstract and submit data to the
QIO clinical warehouse, the national data repository, on the four CMS
national inpatient topics (Acute Myocardial Infarction, Heart Failure, Pneumonia
and Surgical Infection Prevention). Data is submitted via the
QualityNet web site using the CMS Abstraction Reporting Tool (CART) or a third
party vendor.
All Prospective Payment Systems (PPS) Inpatient hospitals must continuously submit valid data on 30 quality measures, for the fiscal year 2009. The data collected encompasses the following conditions: acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and pneumonia patients, and the patients' experience of care throught the HCAHPS patient survey. Hospitals must
also submit their Initial Patient Population and Sampling data beginning
with first quarter of calendar year 2008. PPS
hospitals that do not participate in the Reporting Hospital Quality
Data for Annual Payment Update (RHQDAPU) will receive a reduction of 2.0
percent in their Medicare Annual Payment.
CIMRO of Nebraska is available to
provide inpatient hospital technical support and assistance with data abstracting, CART,
clinical data warehouse reporting and the validation process.
